Research Theme Exploring paths of connections, in the performing arts sector, between Japan and Arab World
Brief Description of the Research To explore the Japanese performing arts sector through interviews, meetings and attending performances with the aim to explore ways of building a platform of performing arts between Japan and the Arab world.

– Attends a meeting of the international conference, “Culture and Social Innovation – Tokyo Conference” organized by Tokyo Culture Creation Project

22 and 23 September 2012 – Attends the field trip of the Northeast Japan Earthquake Restoration Fund to Otsuki-cho, Iwate, organized by Association for Corporate Support of the Arts

Title Introduction to contemporary performing arts scene in the Arab world

Khadija El Bennaoui gave an introduction on the context of the Arab world, and made a presentation on the structure of supporting performing arts in the Arab world. In addition, she gave some examples of international festivals in the Maghreb and Mashrek.

Khadija El Bennaoui
Born in Morocco

Khadija El Bennaoui started her professional career in Morocco after graduating from Ibn Zohr University. In 2000, she moved to France and completed some studies in Cultural Policies in Europe at Paris VIII University. She implemented various projects in Africa and the Arab world for a range of clients as a freelance consultant and coordinator, and played a major role in developing support for the mobility of artists and arts professional in Africa and the Arab world as a coordinator of Art Moves Africa and Young Arab Theatre Fund.
