■Program Outline
Artistic Activities by Social Minorities in Japan
What does theater mean today? And what role should theater or art play in current society? Koh Jooyoung’s research begins with these questions. Exploring what is possible at the intersection of art and social minorities (those with disabilities, sexual minorities, disaster victims, refugees, etc.), she met and spoke with people undertaking similar socially engaged art activities in Japan. Along with broadening her own perspectives, she developed a plan for the possibilities of international partnerships in the future.
