Bloom Up Residency Exchange Program

■Program Outline
This program aims to conduct a residency exchange program in partnership with the Bloom Up Residency by RODEO, performing arts festival in Munich. In June 2018, the foundation invited and supported THE AGENCY by Yana Thönnes who was a Visiting Fellows 2016. During their residency, they researched Sohoku Danshi (herbivore men), Zesshoku-kei Danchi, genderless men and men’s movements in Japan in order to develop the idea of Take it like a man – an alternative contemporary men’s movement. In September 2018, the foundation sent Kanako Azuma, visual artist to the Bloom Up Residency and support the collaboration with THE AGENCY.

THE AGENCY [Germany]
THE AGENCY was founded by Belle Santos, Yana Thönnes, Rahel Spöhrer and Magdalena Emmerig in 2015 and often collaborates with Nile Koetting, visual artist and Jeremy Nedd, choreographer and dancer. Their first piece, ASMR Yourself, won the jury prize of 100 Berlin Festival 2015 and was presented at major theatres in Germany incluiding HAU Hebbel am Ufer, PACT Zollverein and Münchner Kammerspiele. In 2017, Medusa Bionic Rise was premiered at Treibstoff Theatertage Basel and Perfect Romance was premiered at Münchner Kammerspiele in 2018. Yana Thönnes was a Visiting Fellow 2016 at The Saison Foundation.
