Research Theme | Mapping The Latest Ecosystems of Experimental Performing Arts in Japan |
Brief Description of the Research | Focusing on the next generation of Japanese artists, he researched the ecosystem of performing arts such as theater, dance and performance art. During his stay, he visited Festival / Tokyo and KYOTO EXPERIMENT, and met with Japanese dramaturgs, directors, choreographers, producers, and researchers, mainly from young to mid-career, to deepen his understanding of the situation of Japanese performing arts. |

Brief Description of the Public Talk:
He presented the cases of the Indonesian Dance Festival and the program of Theater Garashi / Galasi Performance Institute for Cabaret Chairil and introduced the expressions and activities of the next generation’s artists in Indonesia.
■Profile
Taufik Darwis
Studied performing arts at Indonesia Art College (STSI) Bandung
After that, he worked as a freelance dramaturg based in Bandung, and co-founded BPAF (Bandung Performing Arts Forum), artists collective.
Since 2016, he has been a co-curator of the Indonesian Dance Festival. In 2018, he has been invited as a guest curator at the Teater Garasi / Garasi Performance Institute for Cabaret Chairil.
TPAM-First visit to Japan at the International Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama 2018, participating in the Asian Dramaturg Network. He also participated in TPAM 2019 as a member of the Next Generation hosted by the Japan Foundation Asia Center. An interview article has been published in Asia Hundreds (Japan Foundation Asia Center).
